Wanting a look at my older work? This is a archival zine from my final year work at University which I got a First Class Honours Degree for Photography. This is a digital product and you will be sent a pdf.
Contains graphic body image.
This zine is a very personal piece with some graphic images, these are B/W self portraits exploring body images and ideas on self and masculinity. It interwines the self imagery and ideas of manhood and boyhood together. Whilst using older style polaroid photography and digital ones. The discovery of self and what it means to me and what it has meant. Interlinking traditonal stereotypical posing and imagery with the theoretical phrases of Manning Up and boys don't cry. This reference is taken the extreme and plays with how boys and men are supposed to act. With this perpective, I also explored older family photos and how that has treated me and what it means.
The photography I take is often experimental and this project took that role in reseraching what it means to be a boy/man and how I personally am supposed to be.
Gender studies are often focused on girls and ladies and yet boys are treated with such harsh ideas and extreme socialisaton, I wanted to focus on this and questionu the entire treatment. We have been indoctrinated to believe how boys and men are supposed to act, think and look like.
